Instructions to Authors

Iranian Polymer Journal is equipped with a web site that offers online submission, tracking, peer review and also provides researchers to search and free access to full texts of all published papers since 1992.

The manuscript will be initially examined by editors and then sent to reviewers if it fulfils the following points:

  • The manuscript should be original and not have been submitted before or after for other publications simultaneously and/or during the evaluation processing.

  • The relevancy to the scope of the Iranian Polymer Journal.

  • The novelty and originality of the work.

  • Significance to the broadening and development of the field of Polymer Science and Technology.

  • Adherence to IPJ “Instructions to Authors”.

The editors kindly request the authors to make sure of the originality of their works and define and emphasize the novelty at the end of introduction section. IPJ is committed to preserve the scientific publishing ethics.

Note: The general policy of IPJ on manuscripts with nano-composites and related subjects is that, there should be strong evidence on any claim made on the size and uniform distributions of nano-particles such as TEM and XRD results.

Online submission : to access to IPJ online system for submission go directly tohttp://journal.ippi.ac.ir and click the “Login” button, enter your User ID and Password, and then follow the instructions provided on each page. Authors will receive an immediate acknowledgement of receipt of their paper.

Authors are cordially requested to suggest three preferred referees, to accelerate the reviewing process. A notification of the reviewers’ comments and the Editorial Board’s assessments will be sent to the author. The manuscript should be submitted via corresponding author’s account. Otherwise, the system automatically will send a confirmation request e-mail to the corresponding author. Authors should therefore conform closely to the instructions given below:

Organization of Manuscripts: Submit manuscript in Microsoft Word 2003.

Title Page: This page should include the names, affiliations and addresses of all authors and the name, complete address, academic/professional e-mail address, telephone number and fax number of the corresponding author (asterisked). Title of the paper with as many meaningful terms as possible but limited to about 10-15 words in Times New Roman 14, Bold.

Abstract: The abstract should summarize the whole paper, not the conclusion alone. Its length should not exceed 300 words, and to highlight the purpose, the methods used, the results obtained and the conclusions, with the results comprising at least 50% of the abstract.

Key Words: Five key words, expressing the precise content of the manuscript to be provided below the abstract.

Division of Text: Manuscripts should be divided into sections such as introduction, experimental, results and discussion, conclusion, references, symbols, and abbreviations. The text should be in single column with 1.5 line spacing.

References: The most recent published papers and books as references should be cited and identified in the text by enclosing in squared brackets. References should be numbered in order of their citations avoiding bulk referencing (e.g., [1-5]). List all authors (do not use et al.) in inverted style (last name followed by first initial).

References: Journal and book references should be identified in the text by enclosing in squared brackets and should be numbered in order of their citations. Literature references should be listed at the end of manuscript in Times New Roman 11 normal, using the following style:

Unpublished works: Papers accepted for publication may be cited with the journal's name followed by "in press".

Please give the full title of the paper(s) before the name of the journal(s) or the book(s) cited in your references list.

Review Papers : A review manuscript should be produced by experts of the field with at least 10 references from the author(s) themselves. The length of a review paper should be at most 14000 words including the table of content and with the copyrights of all the figures and tables.

Tables: Every table must be referred to in the text and the tables to be numbered in sequential order in which they occur. Place them at the end of the manuscript. As for the table itself, it must be written so that it can be read and understood without reference to the text. Every column and every line of a table must be labelled unambiguously and units indicated wherever data are reported.

Figures: Figures will be produced in black and white. All illustrations should be in 8.5 or 18 cm width excluded the margins, in JPEG or TIFF formats, with resolution of 300 DPI. The figures must be referred in the text and numbered in the sequence in which they are cited. Particular care should be taken to ensure that figures reporting data are unambiguously labeled with regard to units and provide adequate information about the conditions under which the data were obtained.

It is strongly suggested to upload the figures electronically generated from relevant software and/or equipments, NOT from a hard copy scanned file. Micrographs produced by SEM, TEM, AFM, etc. must include magnification and scale. Poor quality artwork will lead to delay in publication. Please supply captions for all figures at the end of the text as well as during uploading process.

Quantities and Units: Use only SI quantities and units. If data are in non-SI units, put non-SI units in parenthesis after the corresponding SI data.

Abbreviations and Nomenclature: Symbols and abbreviations used to represent variables, constants, quantities, properties, etc. must be defined in the text at their first occurrence. Otherwise, compile a list of all symbols and abbreviations at the end of the text under the heading "Symbols and Abbreviations".

The nomenclature should follow established rules wherever these are available. Information on conversion factors is available in many standard reference works.

Please use bold font for vector quantities. Use fractional exponents to avoid root signs. The nomenclature sponsored by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry is requested for chemical compounds. Chemical bonds should be correctly placed, and double bonds clearly indicated. The ion valency must be indicated by superscript plus and minus signs.

Acknowledgements: Acknowledgements, if any, should appear after Conclusion section.

The Editorial Board would be interested to receive a résumé of the author(s).

Electronic Proofing Corresponding authors will be sent page proofs in PDF format via e-mail.

There are no page charges in IPJ and you can find the full text of published manuscripts free of charge in IPJ website.

Copyright: No article can be published unless accompanied by a signed publication agreement, which serves as a transfer of copyright from author to publisher. It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission to reproduce material that has appeared in another publication. A copy of that agreement, executed and signed by the author, is now required with each manuscript submission. A manuscript cannot be accepted for publication without the signed agreement. (If the article is a "work made for hire," the agreement must be signed by the employer). “Letter of Agreement” is available on IPJ website.
